According to 4 research firms, only 20% of software projects are finished in a timely manner (and without loss of quality). In fact, “the average project runs approximately 200% late, roughly 200% over budget, and contains only 2/3 of the original (agreed upon) functionality.”
If you’re running a business, these stats should be unacceptable! It’s one thing for a project to take too long, or go over budget, but if the finished web application or software doesn’t even work properly you’re stuck with a liability that sucks up business time and resources until you pay someone else to fix it (or worse, start over again).
We’ve all had firsthand experience using software that is full of infuriating quirks (bugs that make you want to bang your head into the computer screen!). It’s the last thing you want to happen with your new software project, right?
